This cantata by Tom Cunningham was written for the Brussels Choral Society who gave its première on 26th March 2023. There are seven movements, the first six written in 2022 and the seventh a re-orchestrated version of an earlier composition "For unto us a child is born".
You can listen to all seven movements of their performance.
The conductor, Eric Delson, wrote "Your piece was warmly welcomed by the public, the choir, the orchestra and of course the soloists, who I must say gave a beautiful performance of your piece and who were so sincerely appreciative of the vocal writing. Thank you for giving the Brussels Choral Society this beautiful gift! Now others too can appreciate your wonderful music!"
They performed the version with orchestra. The orchestration, requested by the Brussels Choral Society, is strings plus oboe and trumpet (like Vivaldi's Gloria). It can also be performed with piano or organ, using the Vocal score. The two solo numbers can be sung unison by the choir sopranos.
